“FISH TANK” (33X24CM) Insecurity monster.. This lil guy don’t look so bad, no? He’s the absolute worst tho. Like a bloodhound he will sniff out any imperfections you could think of about yourself. And leave a comment. He will shrink you down to his own size and make you believe that’s how you were born. Small and insignificant. Only fit to be pointed and laughed at trough the glass of an aquarium wall. Cousin to self pity monster is insecurity monster who instead of not reacting, acts out to make themselves feel better. It’s often in a public way, like getting sexual attention or overcompensating in the gym.. getting an item that you can’t really afford. But it can also be in a dramatically more introverted, negative way like self harm, eating disorders or drug abuse. Any of those things will put you right back in the tank. Sometimes even a locked one. I don’t know how to fight this guy, he’s been tagging along since the beginning of puberty. If you can’t out-swim him, I guess you just have to be kinder towards yourselves and others, because he won’t be. A crowd of people cheering for you might scare him away for a while. You cheering for yourself will freak him out even more. Believing in yourself drowns out his voice.
